NPS vs NRE Fixed Deposit: Which is Better for NRI Retirement?
NPS offers higher long-term returns (equity exposure) and tax benefits but has lock-in until age 60. NRE FDs offer guaranteed returns (currently 6.5–7.5% p.a.), full repatriability, and tax-free interest — with no lock-in beyond the FD tenure. A combination of both is typically optimal for NRI retirement planning.
